Privacy Policy
Last updated
RWR brings calls, private messages and group conversations together without requiring you to share a phone number.
This policy explains how RWR handles information when you use the app or this website. Features and controls can vary with your app version and availability.
Current calls, ordinary chat messages and shared attachments are end-to-end encrypted. RWR does not record or store live call audio or video. Information needed to deliver conversations—such as who participates, timing and delivery status—is still processed to provide the service. Content sent using older, unencrypted versions is not made private retroactively by an update.
We do not sell your personal information or use advertising in the app. Profile content, support requests and reports are handled separately from your encrypted conversations, as explained below.
Information we use
- Your account
- Your chosen RWR ID, account and device information, and account status help us recognize you, keep you signed in and protect your account. Your friends and relationships remain associated with your account when you change your ID.
- Apple, Google & recovery
If you choose to connect Apple or Google, we associate that service’s account identifier with your RWR account to help link or find it. RWR does not receive your Apple or Google password.
RWR’s account backup setting uses iCloud Keychain to help restore your account on another compatible device. It is enabled by default and can be managed in Settings. This backs up account recovery information. Signing in with Apple or Google alone does not restore missing chats.
History backup. Your phone seals your Recents and chat history with a key only your account holds and sends that sealed copy to RWR, where it is kept for up to one year and replaced as it changes. RWR cannot open it. When the app has access to iCloud, the same sealed copy is also kept in your iCloud. After you reinstall RWR and return to your account, the app opens the copy on your phone and restores your history. Deleting your account removes it.
- Your profile & people
- We store your friends, requests, blocks and any profile name, bio or photo you choose to share. Your profile is shown only to your friends, to people with a pending friend request between you, to people in a group or live room with you, and to moderators. Everyone else sees just your RWR ID. New or changed profile content may be reviewed before publication. Your friends and blocked lists are not published as public lists.
- Chats & groups
We store encrypted messages and attachments for delivery, along with participant information, timestamps, size and delivery or read status. We also manage group names, members, invitations and roles. Members can see their group’s membership and roles.
New members and newly approved devices do not automatically receive earlier conversations. Messages and media saved on a phone may remain there until removed. A recipient can keep copies outside RWR.
- Calls & notifications
Connection information, participating accounts and notification settings help calls and alerts reach the right devices. RWR keeps limited call activity information for operation and safety. Your in-app Recents list is kept on your phone and in your sealed history backup; iOS may keep its own call history.
Call and contact preferences. Don’t receive calls, Allow PINGs, Show online status and the people you Silence are stored with your account so every device follows them. Silencing someone is not shown to them; their calls appear in your Recents as missed. If you hide your online status, RWR also hides other people’s status from you.
Live location on a call. Sharing your location during a call is optional and starts only when you turn it on. Your position, and the route when you open one, are encrypted with the call’s key and relayed to the other people on that call. RWR cannot read them, keeps no history of them and does not include them in diagnostics. Sharing stops when you turn it off or the call ends. Opening a location in Apple Maps, Google Maps or Waze passes it to that app under its own terms.
Screen sharing. What you share is encrypted like your camera video, is seen only by the people on the call and is never recorded or stored by RWR. It stops when you stop it or leave the call.
On your phone only. Privacy Guard listens to your microphone on your phone to notice a knock, a door or another voice and then ends the call; nothing from that analysis leaves your phone. The noise filter and voice effects also run on your phone. None of these record or store audio.
PING is a notification feature, not an encrypted message. Delivery and notification information is processed by RWR and Apple. A delivered status does not mean the person has read or noticed the alert.
- Safety & support
- Reports can include your description, the accounts involved and the reported public profile. Authorized reviewers can access reports, submitted profile content and moderation history. If you contact support, we receive your reply email, optional RWR ID and message so we can respond. Reports and support messages are private, not public posts.
- Diagnostics
- RWR receives troubleshooting information such as app and device details, crash or hang reports, and recent call or connection events. Reports can be associated with your account or device. Automatic event reports are on by default. Settings → Diagnostics lets you manage those reports and send a report yourself. That setting does not turn off all crash or performance reporting. Reports include encryption, screen-sharing and location-sharing events such as start, stop and failures, never audio, video, screen content or coordinates. Diagnostic reporting is not call recording.
- VIP Pack
- The VIP Pack is an auto-renewable subscription sold and billed by Apple through the App Store, with a free trial where offered. Apple handles payment; RWR does not receive your payment details. To unlock VIP features, RWR stores the subscription’s original transaction identifier, its expiry date, the App Store environment and whether you show the VIP badge. Manage or cancel the subscription in your Apple ID settings. The subscription is covered by Apple’s standard Terms of Use (EULA).
Your choices
Choose what you share
Microphone and camera access are controlled by your device permissions and call controls. Listening in a group keeps your microphone and camera off. Joining the stage lets you speak; use the camera control when you choose to share video. Photo and file pickers give RWR access to the items you select.
RWR does not read your phone’s address book or email inbox. Location is used only while you share it on a call and only with your permission; you can turn it off at any time in the call or in your device settings. The home-screen widget keeps its favourites on your phone. Connecting Apple or Google is optional. Manage available sign-in connections, account backup and approved devices in Settings.
Control contact and visibility
Use Block on a person’s profile to stop new contact. Manage blocked people in Settings → Privacy & safety. Unblocking does not automatically restore a friendship. You can change or remove shared profile information and manage notification permissions in your device settings.
Understand delete and disappearing options
Always read the confirmation shown in the app. Deleting a direct conversation for both people removes its messages and shared media from that conversation for both accounts. Group owners can delete a group for everyone; other members can leave. Disappearing, concealed or view-once content does not prevent someone from keeping a separate copy.
Other people’s copies
Deleting or expiring content cannot recall notifications already delivered or remove copies someone saved outside RWR. Recovery of an account does not guarantee recovery of message history.
Services that help RWR work
Service providers help with hosting, connectivity, notifications, sign-in and support delivery. They process the information needed for those functions. Apple handles device notifications, iCloud features and VIP Pack billing; Apple or Google handles sign-in when you choose it. The app resolves server names over encrypted DNS through Cloudflare, which sees the names it looks up but not your conversations. Those services also have their own privacy terms.
This website uses essential cookies to keep the support form working safely. Website providers may process connection and usage information to deliver and protect the site.
Storage & retention
Different information is kept for different purposes. Expiry can end access before routine cleanup removes stored copies.
- Account, profile & relationships
- Kept while your account is active, until you change or delete them, subject to the exceptions below.
- Ordinary encrypted messages
- Stored by the service for up to 30 days. Copies on participants’ phones can last longer.
- History backup
- Your sealed Recents and chat backup is kept for up to one year from its last update, then removed. RWR cannot open it.
- VIP subscription records
- Kept while the subscription is active and for its grace period, then with your account until deleted.
- Shared attachments
- Service access normally expires within 24 hours of upload preparation. Saved copies can last longer.
- PING delivery records
- A PING can wait up to 24 hours for delivery. Related records are normally eligible for cleanup after two days.
- Profile submissions
- Pending or rejected submissions are normally eligible for cleanup after 30 days.
- Reports & support requests
- Active stored records are normally eligible for cleanup after 90 days. Correspondence already delivered to support can remain separately.
- Safety & troubleshooting
- Limited moderation, security and diagnostic records may remain beyond account deletion. Some security and diagnostic records have no fixed time-based expiry.
Your local Recents and chat caches remain until cleared, removed with your account on that phone, or replaced as their limits are reached. Clearing Recents does not erase separate account activity information. Temporary copies on other devices and operational backups may retain earlier information.
For questions about information that remains, or to request access, correction or deletion, contact support. We may need to verify that the request relates to your own account.
Deleting your account
- Open Settings → Account → Delete account in RWR.
- Read the options and confirmation. Permanent deletion ends your access and cannot be undone.
- If confirmation is interrupted, reopen RWR to check its status before trying again.
Permanent deletion removes the active account, profile, relationships and associated account information, and clears the saved account identity and that account’s chat and recent-call caches on the deleting phone. Limited security, safety or diagnostic records and previously retained copies can remain as described above. Creating another account does not remove an existing restriction.
Your deleted RWR ID stays reserved
A deleted ID cannot be claimed through normal sign-up. Only RWR can authorize its release or reassignment. You can create a new account using a different available ID.
For a restricted account, scheduled deletion makes the account inactive immediately and retains it for a 90-day window before permanent deletion. You can choose Delete permanently now instead. Reopening the app does not cancel scheduled deletion. Only an authorized administrator can cancel it during that window; doing so does not automatically remove a restriction.
RWR is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them. Contact support if you believe a child has provided personal information.
We update this page when our practices change and show the current date above. Use the support form for privacy or account questions.
Community rules
Keep RWR a place where people can talk comfortably and respectfully.
- No threats, harassment, hateful abuse, sexual exploitation or illegal content.
- No impersonation, scams, spam or attempts to evade account restrictions.
- Share only material you have permission to use. Respect other people’s privacy and choices about contact.
- Use group roles responsibly. Do not pressure someone to speak, turn on a camera or share personal information.
Profile content can be reviewed before it becomes public. Authorized moderators review reports and may remove content or restrict accounts. A report does not automatically punish another person.
To report a person, open their profile and choose Report. Explain what happened without including unnecessary private information. Use Block to stop unwanted contact. RWR does not record calls, so describe call-related concerns in your report.
For questions about a moderation decision or restriction, contact support. Include the reference shown by the app if one is available.
Help & support
A few useful places to start.
Getting started or returning to your account
Choose an available RWR ID to create an account. To return to an existing account, use the recovery options offered in RWR. Apple or Google can help find a linked account; restoring it still depends on available account recovery information. Your RWR ID alone is not proof of ownership. A saved earlier sign-in may offer “Finish previous sign-in.”
Listening or speaking in a group
Open a group to join its conversation or call. As a listener, your microphone and camera are off. Choose an open stage seat when you want to speak. Leave the stage to continue listening. The listener count shows how many people are listening rather than occupying the stage.
Calls, speaker and notifications
Use the call controls for microphone, camera and audio output. Tap Speaker to switch it on or off; hold it to choose an audio device. When offered, Hold & Answer or Swap lets you manage two calls. Connection quality and device permissions affect calls. Notification alerts follow iOS Silent and Focus settings. RWR does not provide emergency calls or calls to public telephone numbers.
Messages, groups and deletion
Update RWR on both phones if messaging is unavailable. Manage a conversation through its chat options; versions with swipe actions also show Delete when you swipe left on a direct chat in Chats. Read the confirmation before deleting. Group details contain the separate controls for leaving or deleting a group.
Recovering an account or missing history
Check Settings → Account and Account backup while you still have access to your account. Returning to your account after a reinstall restores the Recents and chats in your sealed history backup, kept for up to one year; older content or content never backed up cannot be restored. If no recovery option is available, send a support message. Support cannot promise to recover encrypted history that is no longer available.
